Archives of Iranian Medicine: 2011 and beyond

-------------------------------------------------

Archives of Iranian Medicine (AIM) was founded in 1998. It is a bimonthly peer-reviewed multidisciplinary medical publication, and publishes biomedical experiences and clinical investigations as well as analyses of factors that may modulate the incidence, course, and management of diseases and pertinent medical problems. AIM is indexed in several international indexing systems including Medline and ISI. The Journal h-index is now 14 and its 2010 Impact factor is 1.38. The journal is open access and has both print and online versions, which is available here: http://www.aimjournal.ir

In 2011, a total of 544 papers were submitted to the AIM Office, of which, around 10% have been published so far, and about 10 % are in the final stages of review process (acceptance rate is nearly 20%).

The number of submitted papers in 2011 increased about 15% in comparison to the previous year. Also in this year, 382 scientists in Iran and other countries reviewed and evaluated the submitted papers for AIM. Approximately 25 % of the submitted papers were international contributions from the United States, Turkey, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Spain, Italy, England, Korea, India, Brazil, China, Nepal, and Taiwan.

AIM will be published monthly from 2012 with an increased focus on preventive medicine and public health. In its 14th birthday, this switch from bimonthly publication, will complete the Journal’s 4-year transition from a quarterly journal. This change will not only allow us to present the recent advances in medical sciences in a more timely fashion to our readers, but also shorten the wait time for the authors, and has been made possible with the constant support and enthusiasm of our contributors and reviewers.
